“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(This reference to J.J., Jimmy’s youngest son, reminds Jane and me that Jimmy has often mentioned to us that as soon as he began to talk, J.J. started to tell his father about the “playmates” who kept him company through the day. At the time Jimmy was quite intrigued because the only playmates J.J. had were his older brothers and sisters, and these were not the people he was describing. Jimmy states that J.J. related such stories to him up until he was about four years old. J.J. is now six.)

(Jimmy’s youngest son, J.J., is six years old. The first time Jane and I saw the two of them, over four years ago, we were struck by the unmistakable similarity between them, not only in physical appearance but in manner. If anything this likeness between father and son has grown with the passing years, until now it is a standard topic of conversation when the Spazianis and the Buttses get together. As Jimmy’s wife Marian said to us this evening at supper: “Well, there must be a few drops of my blood in J.J. somewhere...” Jimmy of course is Italian. Marian is Irish and French.

(His mother’s home was dark, of course, and not wanting to disturb her merely to leave the tomatoes, Jimmy left them on the back porch. His father had died a few months ago, and while he stood in the backyard, a place he knew and had loved since childhood, Jimmy thought to himself: “Now, if I could see my father’s apparition, then I could tell Ma, and she’d feel a lot better,” or words to that effect. Jimmy waited beside the dark and quiet house, staring out into the backyard, but he saw and heard nothing unusual. He is well acquainted with the literature on psychic phenomena.

(During the 247th session Seth told Marian that Jimmy’s health was good. Seth devoted much of the 229th session to what he said were tax and money problems involving Jimmy. [...] Saturday night Jane and I did wonder why Jimmy asked the particular question he did. In the 229th session Seth gave a March 15 date in connection with Jimmy’s supposed tax troubles.)

(After the session was over at 1:30 AM, Marian’s husband Jimmy arrived home from work. [...] Jimmy then wondered aloud if Seth could tell him about “anything significant” that was going to happen to him within the next six months. [...] Jimmy’s question prompted my next query however.

(“What did Jimmy mean when he asked whether anything significant was going to happen to him within the next six months?”)

(Jane and I have talked to our landlord, Jimmy Spaziani, concerning the data given by Seth in the 100th session, concerning the missing cover to the thermostat in our apartment house. Seth stated that Jimmy inadvertently disposed of the cover “either someplace on his own property or in a public dumping area, whichever area is by a hill, and it is still there.” Jimmy states that with Seth’s reminder, he does recall cleaning out some rubbish from the house last spring; the description, according to Jimmy, matches that of Elmira’s city dump, which Jane and I have not visited. Jimmy states that the area is all small hills, and covers many acres. I asked Jimmy if by any chance he could recall where in the dump he disposed of that load of rubbish, but he could not. Jimmy states that attendants there direct him to a different spot each time; the size of the dump precludes any detailed search, so we conclude that the cover will probably never be found.

(When we discovered the pointer was lost, I remarked to Jane that now Jimmy would probably want the board back. Two days later, Jimmy visited us and asked us if he could take the board back; he and his wife wanted to experiment with it. They had never used it after Jimmy bought it. Jimmy now told us it had been on his mind in recent days. Jane and I looked for the pointer again while Jimmy waited. [...]

(Marian and Jimmy have known about the sessions since they began; indeed it was with their Ouija board that we began to experiment. [...] Seth has said both Marian and Jimmy possess strong undeveloped abilities.

(Our landlord, Jimmy Spaziani, is 50 years old. [...]

(Seth had dealt with Jimmy and his family in other sessions, notably the 100th and 101st. [...]

[...] Jimmy’s father died in the summer of 1964. [...]

(In the 229th session Seth went into some detail concerning the tax problems of our landlord, Jimmy Spaziani. If Jimmy is having tax troubles we know nothing about it, and have heard no rumors. Since we have seen Jimmy a few times recently we wonder if Jane has picked up any telepathic information. Seth mentioned legal difficulties for Jimmy in connection with a March 15 date. Seth also saw a possible future illness for Jimmy.

[...] Last weekend Marian’s husband Jimmy told us that Marian herself must have an operation to remove a tumor on an ovary. [...]

[...] Yesterday afternoon I had told Jimmy that Jane and I would value his opinion of the property, but no arrangements had been made as to when the three of us might get together to look the property over. Jimmy told me this afternoon that he had already seen the house.)

[...] Jimmy (long deceased) was a kind and outgoing landlord and restaurateur who lived with his wife and three children on the second floor of the old converted horse barn and carriage house in back of the apartment house he owned at 458 West Water Street, where Jane and I lived. [...] Jimmy was the chief cook at Lib’s. Busy as he was, he always welcomed us when we stepped into his kitchen to say hello.

[...] What conscious and unconscious communications, we were to wonder, had led her to mention the board to Jimmy? [...] Jimmy had lost interest in psychic phenomena long ago.

[...] And in retrospect I’m apologetic and grateful that during our whole tenure there not one tenant ever complained to our landlord, Jimmy Spaziani, about the noise we subjected that captive audience to once a week for those nine class years.

[...] The scandal at the time was the noisy and violent arguments of an Italian couple, Anna and Jimmy. If Anna didn`t boil Jimmy’s eggs just right, he’d curse her out, and she’d retaliate by throwing some of Mom’s dishes at him, both of them screaming. [...]
